Organisers of this year’s 30th anniversary Hawick Summer Festival are pledging to put a smile on Teri faces.
And laughs galore are on the cards as plans take shape to include a stand-up comedy evening as part of the ten-day programme which takes place from Friday, August 15, to Sunday, August 24.
The open mic comedy night will be hosted by Coopers Bar on Friday, August 22, and the search is now on for locals who fancy themselves as budding comedians and are game for a laugh.
Summer festival chairman Gerry Monaghan said: “2014 is a big year in Hawick for so many different reasons and we’re determined to ensure that this year’s summer festival is among the central attractions.
“We’re currently working on quite a few new events for our special anniversary programme and the comedy night is an exciting new addition. All we need now is for local people to step forward to ensure the event is success. It may be a case of telling one or two jokes or trying out a whole routine. But the simple aim of the night is to try out something new.”
Coopers Bar proprietor Malcolm Cooper said: “We’re excited to be supporting the event and if it is a success it may well become a regular feature as part of our entertainment programme.”
Anyone is interested in appearing at the comedy night is asked to contact summer festival organising secretary, Graham Ford on 07890 281880 or email@example.com
