Local MSP John Lamont has hailed the “remarkable” turnout of Teries for yesterday’s referendum poll.
Speaking to the Hawick News, the Tory member said: “I’m both pleased and relieved by the result from the Borders and across Scotland. The turnout in Hawick was remarkable and it was great to see so many Teries coming out to have their say on the future of Scotland. I was particularly pleased by the very strong support for the No vote across the town.”
“I’m also very grateful to the dozens and dozens of volunteers from Hawick who worked so hard to achieve this historic result.”
