DESPITE missing out on the official Olympic Torch relay, Hawick’s youngsters proved they were great sports as they took part in their own huge procession.
And the town’s own Torch proved a perfect substitute for the spectacular showpiece event at Volunteer Park, which included a gymnastics display, martial arts and an amazing mass zumba demonstration. There was also an equally impressive mass ceilidh.
Guest of honour, four-time Olympic silver medallist Ian Stark, said: “It was absolutely brilliant. The kids were superb and the atmosphere was incredible. It was a huge honour and a privilege to be a part of it.”
