Jay takes bad break in his
stride and secures himself a championship podium place

A YEAR ago Jay Lamb was stuck on the couch nursing a broken leg.

Twelve months on and the teenage motocross star has just secured third place in the British Youth National Championships.

The 16-year-old enjoyed a tentative return from a broken femur in the opening two rounds, but was firing on all cylinders come round three at Milton Park last weekend. However, it wasn’t without event as Jay explained: “I didn’t think it was going to be a good weekend because in the first race on Saturday, three laps in, I went over a big double jump and crashed and got mild concussion.”

Nevertheless he managed to finish fifth and then went on to win the next race. Another crash on the third race bent his handle bar and fork guards, which needed fixed. But he secured second spot in the final race of the afternoon.

The following day was also full of thrills and spills. Jay said: “The first race didn’t go to plan and I fell off three times, but I still finished fourth But the next two races went perfectly. I was first round the corner in both and just pulled away and won them both.”

And that was good enough to secure second place on the day and third overall in the Championship for Jay and his Planet Advanced Suspension team.

Jay would like to thank the team as well as sponsors Think Fitness, VMX KTM, RFX, Fly, Smith, MXM, the Grill Bar, Savile Contractors, Doma, Orchard Dairy Farm and his parents.
