Life for local youngster Shaun Adams has become a little bit easier thanks to the generosity of big-hearted local folk.
The Hawick News highlighted an appeal earlier this year for Teries to donate old mobile phones in a bid to get non-verbal Shaun an iPad Air which would help him communicate with those around him.
Shaun’s mum Nicola said: “Since the appeal started, Shaun has been diagnosed as being autistic. We have apps on the phone which will help him and the Wilton Spectrum are able to help also. Delivery of the iPad took a bit of time as the company were moving offices but I’m sure it will help him communicate with us.”
Nicola added: “I would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone who donated their old phones. This will make a difference [to Shaun] and we were overwhelmed at the help we’ve been given.
“We had a total of 280 phones donated and that exceeded our requirements so I still have around 40 left. If anyone else if making a similar appeal I’d love to hear from them.”
