THE Hawick Oxfam shop is taking part in the charity’s annual Bookfest with a specially organised guided walk led by local raconteur Ian Landles (pictured).
With the theme of this year’s event centring on local history, townsfolk are being urged to give it their support, not only to raise vital money, but also enjoy a dander round Wilton Lodge Park hearing stories from Mr Landles, as well as local archaeological stalwart Gordon Macdonald.
Hawick shop manager Ann Pennington said: “Our Scottish-themed book sale has already been incredible with 400 books being sold in the last two weeks, but we’d like to ask townsfolk to support Bookfest further by getting a ticket for the amble round the park, which promises to be light-hearted and interesting.”
She added: “Everyone is welcome, but we’d be delighted if people come in and buy a ticket so we know the walk will be a success.”
Tickets, priced £3, are available in the shop. The walk, which is estimated to last around two hours, will leave at 6pm on Tuesday from the Common Haugh.
