Hobkirk Community Council says it is being “kept in the dark” over the future of the Hobkirk Primary School buildings, writes Jason Marshall.
The school was mothballed in November, and Scottish Borders Council agreed to review the situation within 12 months. However, January’s CC meeting heard that there has been no further update from the local authority on the school’s long-term future.
Hobkirk CC secretary Griffiths told the Hawick News: “The community council wants to know what is going on regarding the future of the school and the intentions as regards the buildings. We feel we are being kept in the dark.”
An SBC spokesperson commented: “We are about to undertake a pre-consultation and review of all school estate provision in the Borders which will include options for Hobkirk Primary School.
“It is planned to report the results to council on May 19.
