Borders Sport and Leisure and the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (RSCDS) joined forces to organise a special St Andrew’s Day Ceilidh for pupils from eight primary schools in the Hawick area.

Over 170 P4-P7 pupils from Denholm, Drumlanrig, Newcastleton, Stirches, Trinity, Wilton and Burnfoot primary schools attended Hawick Town Hall for the event, which is now in its sixth year.

The ceilidh was the culmination of six weeks of dance teaching from Margaret Pritchard, RSCDS Youth Coordinator and a team of RSCDS country dance tutors, who organised the event in conjunction with BSL’s Active Schools coordinator, Paul Scott.
