A RURAL fund-raiser has boosted the coffers of two good causes by more than £500.

Carlenrig, Teviothead, was the venue on Sunday as locals enjoyed tea, coffee, home-made scones and cakes, as well as the opportunity to experience a variety of holistic therapies including massage, hopi ear candles and reiki. A sale of local crafts was also hugely popular.

An event spokesperson said: “Thanks to the creativity, hard work and effort of our many local friends, we raised the amazing sum of £520 for Macmillan Cancer Support (Borders) and Ward 16 at Borders General Hospital.

“Thanks also to all therapists and volunteers for giving freely of their time and talents, and to Moira Darling, from the Momavie Centre in Canada, whose morning and afternoon inspirational meditation left everyone buzzing with energy, joy and laughter.”
