Local man Graeme Anderson was handed the honouur of opening a high-profile referendum debate at the Merchant’s Hall in Edinburgh last week.
The event was hosted by SELECT – the Scottish trade association for the electrical, electronic and communication systems industry – of which Mr Anderson is south east Scotland branch chairman.
The four-strong panel comprised health secretary Alex Neil MSP and Greens MSP Alison Johnstone for the Yes Scotland campaign, and Tory MSP Murdo Fraser and former Scottish Labour leader Iain Gray, both of whom answered questions on behalf of the Better Together campaign. The renowned journalist and broadcaster Keith Aitken chaired the event which was delivered in the style of BBC’s Question Time.
Mr Andersontold the audience that although SELECT was “neutral”, the question of independence at the hustings provided a chance for everyone to engage on the important matters affecting the industry.
