Firefighters were called to Trinity Street last Tuesday after a report of a car alight at 5.13am.

One appliance from the Wilton Hill station attended the incident and the fire was extinguished at 5.36am.

The Hawick crew then used small tools to make the vehicle safe.

Meanwhile, firefighters in the Borders attended 32 domestic blazes in the three months to June 30 – an increase of a third on the 24 house fires recorded in the region in the corresponding quarter of 2014.
