HAWICK Rugby Club is the venue for Dyslexia Scotland Borders’ next meeting, at which Scottish Borders Council’s principal educational psychologist Dr Roger Barrow will be the speaker.
The local branch was formed last year when parents and others decided to set up the group to help people with the condition.
Committee member Rosemary Bowe said: “We’re hoping to promote better understanding. For example, parents who have dyslexia can’t help their children with homework. If they can’t read themselves they are unable to help.
“We want people to understand the bigger picture about dyslexia and help people to understand that people with dyslexia can be very bright, they just don’t do the word bit well.”
The meeting, which is open to anyone interested, will take place on Thursday from 7-9pm.
