Drumlanrig Primary’s youngest children enjoyed their very own Common-Riding ball last week, led by school Cornet Max Ferguson and his Lass Jamiee Parker, writes Sarah Williamson.

The special afternoon was enjoyed by the early learning and childcare children and the primary ones as they celebrated in the main hall.

Acting Father Toby Russell and Acting Mother Eliot Deans were on hand to help the cornet with his duties. And although the wet weather put paid to the youngsters’ traditional sing-song round the Moat, Mr Common accompanied the children on his accordion as they paraded round the playground.

A school spokesperson said: “Well done to our Big Four and Right-Hand Man Jamie Reid and his Lass Marley Domingo, and the Left-Hand Man Leo Fraser and his Lass Erin Cowan. And thanks to parents for helping the children dress up.”
