A 55-year-old man has been arrested and charged after he was found to be six times over the drink-drive limit on Wednesday.
Officers received a number of reports relating to a motorist driving eratically in the Loan around 7.30pm and the vehicle was stopped. The driver was then breathalysed with a reading six times the limit.
Chief Inspector Andy McLean told the Hawick News: “Driving while under the influence of alcohol has been highly publicised recently and we are really grateful for the calls we received from members of the public regarding this incident.
“Their swift action allowed officers to locate and intercept the car and arrest the driver.
“Keeping people safe on our road network is a priority for Police Scotland and anyone found to be driving while impaired will be robustly dealt with.”
