Disturbance accused to stand trial

A 20-year-old male has appeared from custody at Selkirk Sheriff Court accused of causing a disturbance at his home in Mansfield Crescent on Friday.

Jamie Brown faces two counts of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner in which he is said to have been shouting and swearing and also repeatedly kicking his front door which broke.

He is also accused of wilfully and recklessly damaging a cell at the police station by urinating and defecating on the floor and then causing the cell to flood after blocking the toilet with his clothing.

Brown pleaded not guilty to all three charges and a trial was fixed for July 5 at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
