Bonfire Night is set to go with a bang in Denholm on Wednesday with not only the traditional blaze, but the return of a fireworks display.
For the second year running, The Auld Cross Keys Inn has organised a spectacular show to entertain the crowds which always flock to the popular eventon the Green.
Spokesperson Lynn Ferguson said: “Following last year’s hugely successful donation of fireworks by Dave and Karen [at the Cross Keys], we are delighted they’ve organised another show from behind the pub, which I’m sure will be just as spectacular.”
Donation boxes towards the fireworks have been in place in the Post Office and the Cross Keys, and there will be volunteers with collection buckets on the night for the public.
The bonfire is due to be lit at approximately 6.15pm, with the fireworks around 6.45pm. The Cross Keys will be providing hot takeway food, which can be ordered at the bar.
The Green is in use today for a rugby tournament today, so bonfire building cannot start until tomorrow (Saturday) once the pallets go down on the Green. As usual, trade waste, furniture etc is not allowed. Only garden waste is allowed.
No fireworks apart from sparklers will be allowed on the Green.
Mrs Ferguson added: “We hope it’s a nice dry night and that everyone has a great time and stays safe.”
