An alcohol thief who failed to turn up for a meeting with social workers so that background reports could be compiled has been given one more chance.

David Connolly, 30, of Bright Street, had previously admitted stealing a bottle of vodka from B &M Bargains on July 10 and a can of alcohol from Spar in Galashiels on March 29.

At Jedburgh Sheriff Court, he also pleaded guilty to breaking into the Scottish Borders Council social work offices in Abbotsford Road, Galashiels, and stealing stationery on January 30.
