Police in shed fire plea

Police are appealing for witnesses following a suspicious fire in Burnfoot.​​​​​​​​​​​​

The incident happened in Hamilton Road around 7pm yesterday ​​​​​(Sunday) when a shed attached to greyhound kennels was set on fire.

The dogs escaped unharmed but the shed and its contents were destroyed.

Officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.

Chief Inspector John Scott told the Hawick News: “This was a deliberate attempt to cause significant damage and could have resulted in serious injury to the animals.

“We are keen to hear from anyone with information that can help us trace those responsible.”
