A 26-year-old man is facing a charge of attempted murder.

John Grierson is accused of attacking a male in the town earlier this month.

Grierson made no plea during a brief private appearance at Jedburgh Sheriff Court and was remanded in custody by Sheriff Derrick McIntyre.

At Selkirk Sheriff Court last week, he was jailed for eight months and 15 days for striking a male over the head with a glass object to his injury in a public park in Galashiels.
