A man left sexually explicit notes on cars belonging to three women.

Neil Beattie, of Yarrow Terrace, admitted engaging in a course of conduct which caused all three woman fear and alarm.

The 48-year-old repeatedly left hand-written notes and drawings which were sexually explicit on a car in Linden Terrace.

He did the same on another vehicle in Wellogate Place, and again in Dalkeith Place. The three offences happened between March 1 and May
27.

Defence solicitor Rory Bannerman told Jedburgh Sheriff Court his client had been “posting notes on vehicles.

“These offences happened over a period of months,” he explained. “They came out of the blue, and were out of character,” added Mr Bannerman.

He said Beattie, who had lost his employment, had been suffering “a variety of issues.

“These got the better of him, and stress also played its part,” said Mr Bannerman.

“He fully acknowledges his part in this and knows that he will be put on the register,” he concluded.

Beattie was sentenced to a 30-month Community Payback Order, with supervision.

He was also placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for 30 months.
