A WOMAN has admitted claiming benefits worth more than £2,500 to which she was not entitled.

Twenty-four-year-old Pamela McGregor, of Alemoor Court, pleaded guilty at Jedburgh Sheriff Court to the offence, which happened between April and September in 2011.

She failed to tell the Department of Work and Pensions about a change in her circumstances in that she was living with a man and claimed £1,701.44 in Income Support and £856 in housing benefit to which she was not entitled.

Sheriff Derrick McIntyre imposed a community pay back order with 80 hours of unpaid work.
