Police are urging residents in and around the town to be vigilant following a recent rural theft.

The incident happened last Friday night (November 13), when a grey Volkswagen Caddy Van, registration SM64 BXX, was stolen from a farmhouse north of Hawick.

The van contained several expensive power tools including an orange and black nail gun, a Dewalt cordless drill and an orange Fein screw
gun.

PC Steven Irvine told the Hawick News: “I’d ask anyone who has information that can assist with this investigation to get in touch with police as soon as possible.

“Also, anyone who has been offered the chance to buy second-hand tools in the area recently and is concerned should contact police on 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
