THERE was a total of 68 crimes recorded in Hawick throughout the month of December.
The figures were revealed in a report from PC Keith Murray at a meeting of Hawick Community Council on Tuesday night, where it was heard that 28 of those crimes were detected – giving a 41 per cent solvency rate.
It was also reported that the crimes committed included 32 acts of vandalism, which PC Murray said continued to be a “concern” in the town. However, compared to a previous spate of 16 house break-ins, there was only one in December. Five people were charged with drink driving.
n The town’s community wardens issued one fixed penalty fine for dog fouling last month, and received 51 complaints on issues including litter and anti-social behaviour.
