Couple avoid jail after takeaway disturbance

A HUSBAND and wife who caused a disturbance in a fast food takeaway shop have escaped custodial sentences.

It was the second time 29-year-old Bryan Marsh had appeared in court for threatening and abusive behaviour in the Istanbul takeaway.

This time he also admitted making racially offensive remarks and assaulting the Turkish owner by repeatedly kicking a door which in turn struck him.

His wife Jackie, 23, pleaded guilty to kicking and striking a glass counter in the shop and also assault.

Jedburgh Sheriff Court was told the row erupted over payment of a pizza.

Sheriff Donald Corke told the couple “they had no right to go round intimidating and assaulting people.”

The mother-of-two of Mansfield Road was ordered to carry out 120 hours unpaid work and pay £100 compensation to the shop owner.

Her husband was given a 160 hour community pay back order and told to pay £150 compensation.
