Hawick and Hermitage councillor Davie Paterson was involved in a head-on car smash in Edinburgh at the weekend.
Mr Paterson, whose car was written off, suffered bruising and whiplash after he was struck head on whilst stationary.
He was on his way to Edinburgh’s Jam House to judge at a boxing event organised by the city’s Lochend Boxing Club, and speaking to the Hawick News this week, he said: “I’m very sore and haven’t slept well for a few nights. I got a real fright. The police who attended the scene of the accident said I was lucky to be alive. My car is a write-off but I’m just thankful no one was seriously hurt. That’s the main thing.”
