Closure brings renewed Aldi call

Councillor Stuart Marshall is making a renewed call for the council to give the green light for plans to bring Aldi to Commercial Road after Galalaw-based cattle-tagging firm Allflex confirmed that it will close its doors on Octber 31 with the loss of 25 jobs.

The company is relocating to County Durham and speaking to the Hawick News yesterday (Thursday), Mr Marshall said: “ It’s so sad to hear that such a successful and long-standing business as Afflex closing down. And this, in my mind, only strengthens the case for all of us to redouble our efforts in cracking on with Aldi and the regeneration of Commercial Road.”
