CC’s pledge over talks on twinning

HAWICK Community Council is due to discuss what kind of support it may be able to offer the town’s failing relationship with Bailleul.

Councillor Ron Smith informed a meeting on Tuesday night that the town’s twinning association was facing a bleak future due to a lack of interest in exchange visits with the French town, and as part of ongoing discussions to decide its fate, asked the community council to consider its commitment to the cause.

Community Council chairman John Hope said: “We need to sit and discuss this issue and will report back at the next meeting.”
