Burnfoot man’s behaviour was ‘totally unacceptable’

A MAN who verbally abused the mother of his children during a domestic argument and smashed a window at her home in McLagan Drive has been ordered to be of good behaviour for the next six months.

At Jedburgh Sheriff Court, Kevin Kerr, 26, of Ivanhoe Terrace, pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner on a Friday night last month.

Sheriff Donald Corke told him: “This behaviour is totally unacceptable.”

Sentence was deferred until April 13 next year when Sheriff Corke said he expected the £150 damage to the window had been paid for.

A 34-year-old man has admitted assaulting a woman and then making remarks of a sexual nature to another and attempting to handle her breasts.

Alan Aitken, 34, of Cunningham House, Cowgate, Edinburgh, pleaded guilty to the offences which happenned at a house in Hillend Drive on September 12, 2009.

He was put on probation for two years.

RYAN Gillespie, 22, will stand trial on charges of driving a car away without the consent of the owner, no insurance and possession of cannabis. The offences are alleged to have been committed near his home in Paterson Gardens on August 16. Trial was fixed for January 5.
