JANUARY saw a reduction in crime throughout the whole of Burnfoot.
PC Steven Sutherland revealed at a meeting of Burnfoot Community Council on Tuesday night that the local force has had a “quiet month”, with 65 calls in total.
Compared to the same period last year, that is a 22 per cent reduction.
PC Sutherland said: “This is pretty good considering the size of Burnfoot. We think this is quite commendable.” From the calls made, there were three for vandalism and nine regarding youths, although the latter was dealt with without the need to bring any charges.
PC Sutherland added: “We had just the one call to Kenilworth Avenue where a bag of rubbish had been set alight, but we have used the CCTV and we are currently following a positive line of enquiry on this.”
