Having just read last Friday’s ‘From the Editors Chair’, I would have to agree that school uniforms encourage pupils to take pride in themselves etc as well as looking very smart.
However, I don’t think the problem is in what position the school tie should be worn, I think the length of some of the girls’ skirts is a bigger issue.
Being in Hawick High School on a regular basis, I am disgusted to see how short some pupils’ skirts are. I have heard far more complaints and comments about short skirts than I have about school ties. When you can see the top seem of the tights and often a lot more then it is not appropriate, its disgusting and this issue needs to be addressed more than the position of the school tie.
