Judging in the best-kept gardens competition, organised by the comunity council and Hawick in Bloom group, has been completed and the winners will be announced at a presentation night in the Buccleuch Hotel on Wednesday.
This year, there were 16 gardens entered, plus four in the sustainable category, covering a wide area of the town, three local allotments and three business premises.
Judging proved very difficult. Such was the high standard this time, with several gardens not previously entered, only 1½ marks separate the top three. The sustainable gardens are also commendable but with a clear winner.
It is only a pity more people hadn’t entered or been nominated, there being several gardens in the town that would have figured quite highly.
