A teenager broke a bail curfew to celebrate his 18th birthday with friends, and ended up spending the weekend in custody.
At Selkirk Sheriff Court, Conor Sutherland, Loan, admitted breaching a bail curfew at Diesels Nightclub on March 6.
He was arrested after police received an anonymous call, and officers found him dancing at the nightclub around midnight.
Defence lawyer Iain Burke explained that his client had invited a number of friends to his home to celebrate his 18th birthday. “As the night wore on, his friends wanted to move on to the nightclub,” said Mr Burke.
“He resisted until about 11pm and then caved in and went with them. He was caught on the dance floor and spent his birthday weekend in custody.”
Sheriff Kevin Drummond admonished Sutherland.
