Assault and robbery teenager is ‘very sorry’

A teenager who admitted a charge of assault and robbery, was ordered to pay a fine and compensation totalling £720.

Eighteen-year-old Darrell Shearman of Branxholme Road, admitted, while acting with another, assaulting a man and robbing him of a rucksack containing personal property, at Princes Street, on May 15 last year.

Solicitor Rory Bannerman, defending, said his client was “very sorry” for his part in the offence.

He said Shearman hoped to join the navy.

Sheriff Donald Corke fined Shearman £320 and ordered he pay his victim £400.
