WHILE most will still be shivering from the late wintry weather, the Hawick in Bloom group has already turned its attentions to the spring and summer.
And they are appealing to townsfolk to lend a helping hand.
Fund-raising ideas, which include coffee mornings, a raffle and a possible concert, have been pencilled in for the coming months as the group looks to plant up the beds at Haughhead, Round Close, Allars Crescent and the High Street.
Chairperson of Hawick in Bloom, Lorraine Wilson, said: “We’re also looking to brighten up other areas of the town and with luck our planned efforts will be fruitful.
“We’re also wondering if some of the town’s gardeners, when growing trays for their own gardens, might do an extra one for us?”
The group is staging another meeting at 7pm on Tuesday, February 21 in the Future Hawick offices, Drumlanrig Square.
Mrs Wilson added: “If anybody would like to pop along they will be made very welcome and hopefully together we can inject a bit of colour into our town.”
