Denholm Primary School pupils recently held a very successful yellow-themed day, raising money for Marie Curie Cancer Care, writes Rachel Scott.
Children and staff came to school dressed in yellow, had a special yellow iced cake and held a yellow raffle. The school managed to raise a grand total of £134.50 for the charity.
In addition, the pupils have been growing their own daffodils thanks to Marie Curie, who provided each child with daffodil bulbs, pots and compost.
The children decorated cuffs to go round their pot, and Abbie Hopkins’ cuff was chosen as the best design.
Abbie’s cuff was sent to the charity to enter into the regional final, where she won the top prize.
Caroline Green, Marie Curie community ambassador for the Borders, presented Abbie with the prize of a £25 WH Smith voucher.
