Stage is set for annual 'Hawick Sings' concert
1514 president Jock Rae will host the club's annual 'Hawick Sings' concert later this month as the event celebrates its 25th anniversary.
The popular town hall showpiece, which takes place on Wednesday, May 21, includes hotly-anticipated performances from many weel-kent Hawick entertainers as well as star turns from pupils at nine local primary schools.
And as always, the Drums and Fifes, and Hawick Pipe and Saxhorn Band's junior sections are all set to take centre stage – not to mention local favourites 'Chugger' Brown, Viv Sharp and a special duet from Michael Aitken and John Tait.
Hawick's bright-eyed daughters are well represented, too, with songs from Evelyn Armstrong, Laurie Cockburn, Joyce Tinlin and Lois Niblo.
The club is indebted to the continuing sponsorship from Iain and Liz Logan, Morrisons for providing refreshments for the children, and jewellers Hamish and Sylvia Smith who have again donated a gold pendant for the raffle.
Tickets are on sale in the Crown Business Centre from 10am tomorrow, priced £4/£2 concessions.
