A NINE-year-old girl was taken to the Borders General Hospital last Friday morning after being struck by a vehicle on her way to school.
And police said she was fortunate to escape without serious injuries.
The youngster was making her way to Trinity Primary at around 8.40am when she dashed between cars outside John Beattie and Sons funeral directors and was hit on the head by the wing mirror of a Transit van.
A police spokesman said: "An ambulance attended and she was taken to the Borders General Hospital where she was treated for a bump to the back of her head and an abrasion to her leg.
"She is very lucky to be escaping with just a bump on her head."
