COUNCILLOR George Turnbull has given assurances that the dilapidated balcony at the former Liberal Club will be fixed.
The elected member was responding to further complaints from community councillor Isobel Scott, over the continued lack of action to repair the building, pictured.

Mrs Scott, who has raised the issue regularly, stated: "This eyesore has gone on and on, and this summer it will be the fourth anniversary.

Councillor Turnbull, who has been closely involved with plans to convert the High Street property into the Hawick School of Hospitality Management, replied: "The gentleman responsible for the college will be in Hawick next week to address the area committee, and hopefully he has a firm answer.

"But I can assure you the repairs will be done."
