A very sad day for the people of Hawick and the rugby world. A true gent has been taken from us. I will never forget Bill especially when he taught me sport at wilton primary school then Hawick High What a man. Never will I understand why this Legend was never given a Knighthood that he so truly deserved.
R.I.P Bill

Mr MClaren as I knew him, was my PE Teacher at Burnfoot School. He gave encouragement to us all, especially to those of us who didn't have much in the way of sporting ability! He encouraged you to try, and made you believe you could climb a 10 foot wall even when you were scared of heights!
He touched so many people in many different ways. His loss will be felt from one end of the world, to another.
My heartfelt condolences to his wife Betty and all his family x
