CALLS have been made to make the road between Bucklands Wood and Hornshole safer.
It comes after concerns were raised at Burnfoot Community Council over the speed of vehicles using the stretch of road, particularly on the approach to Hornshole.
There have been three accidents on the road in the last three years, one of which sa
w a motorist losing control and colliding with a telegraph pole, and the other two, involved two vehicles, one of which happened at the Hassendean junction where one vehicle failed to give way, resulting in the collision.
Councillor Stuart Marshall said: "I would like SBC to upgrade the junction markings and also explore the idea of more visible signage. I would certainly be urging all regular users of this stretch of road to exercise extreme caution, and always be aware of walkers as well as heavy farm machinery."
A council spokesman said: "To our knowledge, Councillor Marshall has been given concerns about road safety in this area from one local resident.
"The Road User Group have looked at road speeds, signage and junction markings and there were no serious concerns, but some remedial works to junction markings will be carried out."
