Event organisers from Burnfoot Community Council have pulled together a top-notch programme, and among the many highlights are a visit by the mounted police and an appearance by folk rockers Scocha.

The fun starts at 11am with a procession down Fraser Avenue, and continues at noon with a vast array of activities and attractions in the grounds of the old school. And with bouncy castles and disco dancers, music from Pyre, Lois Niblo and the Scout Band, as well as a magician and face painting – the afternoon promises to be action-packed.

From 5.30pm until 9pm there will be a licensed bar and hog roast, as the carnival welcomes Scocha.

Event chairman Jamie Batten said: "The committee has put in a lot of work over the last seven months to ensure there is something for everyone.

"All our plans are in place for what should be a superb day. And there is no reason for it not to be the best carnival ever."

The carnival has received £2,500 of funding from the Community Grants Scheme and £3,618 from Awards for All.
