Plans for a pump track in the town are gathering pace with the group behind the project signing the lease for the land at the former tennis courts in Wilton Lodge Park, writes Jason Marshall.

Funding is now being sought for the £250,000 project, and it is hoped that a steering group can be set up to bring the proposal to fruition.

A Hawick Community Pump Track spokesperson said: “We’re looking for people to help, but they don’t have to join our committee, we’re really just hoping to tap into different skillsets in areas such as dealing with public bodies and form-filling.

“Anyone who would like to get involved is welcome to get in touch with one of our group members, Ben Wilson, on 07772 532690.”

Meanwhile, the pump track group is to stage a fund-raising gig on January 9. Local acts the Stevie T Band, Inside the Whale and the Humble Scribes will take centre stage at the Border Club, and tickets (£5) are available from Rum and Milk from November 13.
