A LOCAL solicitor and sports massage therapist are set to tackle one of the toughest cycling challenges in Europe for charity.
John Hunter and Colin Paxton are taking part in the Madmen of Ventoux on June 11 – an event which takes place on a legendary summit known as the Giant of Provence.
With an ascent and descent of all three routes to the summit in one day - one of the most gruelling climbs in the Tour de France bicycle race – participants have to contend with winds in excess of 100 kilometres an hour, and temperatures ranging from freezing to 30 degrees centigrade.
Pedalling in aid of Parkinsons UK, John told the Hawick News: “We have taken part in many cycling challenges but reckon this could be one of the toughest.”
