Have your say

Runners in the Hawick and Denholm Primary Schools town and country run line up under the watchful eye of ‘Uncle’ Bill McLaren in July 1986.

Over 350 pupils took part, with primary six and seven children from seven schools taking in the two-and-a-half mile course. Though it was strictly for fun, it also presented a challenge, featuring most elements of a cross-country run. First home in a time of 18 minutes was Jaimie Hughes of Stirches Primary, closely followed by his brother Donald.
