Youngsters are good sports at Salvation Army academy
Kids and adults alike thoroughly enjoyed the week-long sports academy which was led by Majors Steven and Elizabeth Turner
KIDS at the Salvation Army sports academy holiday club have been making a song and dance about getting fit!
Fifteen children demonstrated their physical fitness with singing and dancing at the Sunday worship meeting in what was the culmination of the week-long club.
For two hours each morning, 43 children aged 5-11 took part in a variety of activities with a sports theme, led by Hawick Salvation Army corps officers Majors Steven and Elizabeth Turner.
The words of the club theme song ‘Join the Fit Crew’ reminded the children of the importance of looking after their bodies, and the actions gave them plenty of exercise. And competitive sports puppets Bert and Lucy presented a humorous take on the rights and wrongs of sportsmanship.
There were also games, the Bible story of King David and a special presentation with children receiving medals.
Major Elizabeth Turner said: “If the children have had fun, learned a little more about living well, and heard about God’s love, it’s been worth it.”
