Uppies get upper hand

editorial image

DENHOLM Green was a happy hunting ground for the Uppies for the first time in a while as they recorded a resounding 4-2 win over the Doonies on Monday afternoon.

Helped BY a larger than usual Hawick contingent, the Uppies scored first through ace smuggler John Fishwick and shortly afterwards Robbie Linton followed suit. The Doonies tried hard to rally but Jamie Clarkson raced off the Green and up the Hawick road to score number three. Hamish Murray smuggled another for the Uppies before an epic 60-minute struggle resulted in Grant Sandilands eventually getting the Doonies on the scoresheet. The next ba’ also went down with Rambo Ramsey running to the Doonie hail after a series of intricate passing to finish the day.

Details: Mr and Mrs Newbigging: Golden wedding ba’ – Up by John Fishwick; Mr and Mrs Notman: wedding ba’ – Up by Robbie Linton; Mr and Mrs Laing: wedding ba’ – Up by Jamie Clarkson; Mr and Mrs Redihaugh: wedding ba’ – Up by Hamish Murray; Community Council ba’ – Down by Grant Sandilands; Fox & Hounds ba’ – Down by Stewart Ramsay; and Cross Keys ba’ – Misplaced in the twilight and remains unhailed.
