Two years of playtime for children
Local youngsters had a ball as Tumble Time celebrated its second anniversary at the TLC
YOUNGSTERS gathered at Teviotdale Leisure Centre to mark the second anniversary of its popular Tumble Time activity class.
In the two years since it began, the class has been attended more than 5,600 times by children from Hawick, providing those aged 0-6 with the opportunity to have fun and get active in the safety of its soft play centre.
Ewan Jackson, chief executive of Borders Sport and Leisure, the social enterprise which operates Teviotdale Leisure Centre, said: “Tumble Time is a brilliant way of encouraging children to be active from an early age.
“It also gives parents the opportunity to fit a fitness session for themselves into their busy schedule. Children who experience active play are more likely to continue to associate exercise with enjoyment as they grow and this all plays a part in giving children the chance to have active healthy lifestyles.”
Tumble Time was formed when the charity Toddler Time folded. Keen not to lose this activity-based resource for the town, Borders Sport and Leisure negotiated with the charity to have all of the equipment gifted to Teviotdale Leisure Centre so the service could continue to be provided for the children of the town.
