Teri student behind new Burns production
AN ART student from Hawick is bringing the national Bard to life through a unique Burns supper dinner play.
In what is being billed as a thought-provoking night full of music and humour, the piece, by Emma Elliott-Walker and student writer Jeni Cumming, questions and explores the myth of Burns and his life by allowing characters from his biography to represent him in his absence.
The production is a fund-raiser for the Sustainable Communities Development Project, an outreach scheme involving young people and local tradesmen helping with various community-orientated construction projects in Hawick; and the Grassmarket Community Project in Edinburgh.
During the catered performances the audience will be served a three-course meal produced in the style of the period, featuring haggis by the award-winning producer Lindsey Grieve.
The production will be shown in Edinburgh on January 25 and 26 at St Columba’s-by-the-Castle in Edinburgh. And it will come to Hawick the following weekend in the Catholic Church Hall on Saturday, February 2.
Tickets, priced £15 for adults and £12 for students, are available from ILF Imaging.
