homage at hornshole
CORNET’S Lass Gillian Smith admitted to a few nerves as she carried out the first of her official duties on Sunday.
It was a sombre moment of great importance as the 25-year-old laid the wreath at Hornshole.
However, Gillian, looking absolutely resplendent, com-pleted the task with great poise and dignity.
She said: “I was nervous before laying the wreath. Hornshole was silent and I could feel a great sense of the importance of the place and what it means to the whole Common-Riding.”
A large gathering of townsfolk had made the short journey to the historical spot in order to take in the special tribute paid by the Lasses.
