Classes offered to help Teries manage stress

STRESS management classes are being run in the town.

The three-week evening classes at the library, starting on Tuesday (5.45pm - 6.45pm), will give practical advice on managing stress.

Teries can go along to one or all of the hour long sessions which will be run by Helen Lynch and Rebecca Pryde, both clinical associates in applied psychology within BHS Borders’ psychological services.

Helen said: “These are evening classes, not group therapy. People will not be asked to talk about themselves or their problems.

“If people feel that they need one-to-one support then they will be encouraged to contact their GP for more appropriate support to be arranged. Support group contacts, self-help leaflets and DVDs will also be available at the classes.”

The programme of classes will run in the following order: Week 1, improving sleep and relaxation; Week 2, managing worry; Week 3, self-esteem and confidence

The classes are free but booking is essential. Anyone who would like to attend should contact the library to book a place.
